Mesa Verde
National Park

This is a picture I took in 2011 of Spruce Tree House in Mesa Verde National Park. I am fascinated by the ancient people of the American West. How they lived, what they ate, how they dressed, how they spoke, how they thrived (or not), their culture, their origins, their fate, etc. These people lived at Mesa Verde for 700 years, from 600 AD to 1300 AD. That would be about 35 generations. And probably little changed over those 700 years. One generation lived pretty much like the last one. Contrast that with our lives today. Think how the Internet has changed our lives in a single generation.

Mesa Verde means green table in Spanish.

Colorado has a host of sites associated with these ancient people. I have visited many of them and never get tired of looking at them and pondering.
