One of my favorite passages of Mark Twain is his description of the coyote, from his book “Roughing It” (1872). That book relates his travels out West in 1861-1867. Twain’s description of the coyote just cracks me up. If you’ve ever seen coyotes or dealt with them, you’ll probably appreciate Twain’s description. I have a lot of respect for coyotes; they are tough survivors in a world out to get them.
